With its stunning ocean views and beautiful interior, the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa is the perfect hotel for adults looking to escape to the Cornish coast. After being stuck in England for a couple of months due to the pandemic, the two of us were itching to get out on a small vacation. We figured there was no better place than escaping to the coast, and booked ourselves a trip to Cornwall.
This was our first time to Cornwall and wanted to have a central base. We figured Newquay would be the perfect spot and absolutely fell in love with Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa.
The hotel itself is located right on the beach. If you’re lucky enough you can book a “Best Room,” which is a room that has a balcony overlooking the sea view. You can wake up each morning to the sound of the waves crashing along the rocks. Since the ocean views are what makes this hotel stand out amongst the rest, we strongly suggest you book one of these rooms.
We enjoyed sunset and drinks on our balcony in the evening and each morning we woke up slowly with a coffee cup in hand watching the surfers take on the waves below. The rooms were extremely spacious and the bed’s pure comfort. However, one of the best parts of the ocean view room is the bathtub. We were blown away by the tub which overlooked the water. If you’re feeling extra romantic you can draw a bubble bath, open a bottle of champagne, and enjoy the sunset from the comfort of the tub.
The Dune Restaurant and Bay Bar are perfect locations for those looking to enjoy a bite to eat with a view of the ocean or grab a delicious craft cocktail with friends.
Being extremely impressed with the overall quality of the food and service we received at the Dune Restaurant for dinner. We booked in a romantic dinner for two, where we had the opportunity to select our favourites for a 3-course dinner extravaganza. We opted for the fresh fish of the day, and the lamb rump as our mains and finished our meal with a beautiful cheese plate and dark chocolate delice. The food was so delicious and our server was also extremely attentive and friendly.
The Bay Bar is also a beautiful setting for evening cocktails. We sat in the lovely seating area and enjoyed sunset cocktails together. The bar uses its very own app where you can sit at a table, input your table number, and place your order without having contact with any staff. We figured this would be the “new norm” with a pandemic and it worked out smoothly. They had a wonderful selection of wines and spritz.
The incredible indoor pool and spa at The Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa was definitely a highlight of the property. Although the sauna and steam were closed due to the pandemic the pool was open for guests and even available for private hire. During the day the pool is open to all guests until 9 pm after it is open for private booking only.
Before entering the spa, guests are required to fill out a check-in and check-out form where they note their name, number, and time for contact tracing.
We booked the spa for private hire for one hour in the evening and it was so much fun. We really enjoyed having the entire space to ourselves. The heated pool and hot tub were perfect and we enjoyed a glass of champagne. The romance was definitely in the air, and we couldn’t suggest this more for any couples on holiday!
Our stay at the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa was just what we needed amidst the chaos. This adult-only hotel was so relaxing, and we loved having the beach right at our doorstep. We enjoyed every moment of our holiday on the coast.
This was our first hotel stay in the midst of a pandemic and we must admit that all of our hesitations were immediately put to ease after we checked into this stunning hotel.
Their overall attention to detail and careful procedures made us feel safe the entire time. Prior to check-in, the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa sent us an informative document noting all the rules and updates in light of the pandemic. We were told that it was mandatory to wear our face masks in all public areas of the hotel at all times.
Various hand sanitation stations were spread out throughout the property and all staff were safely protected the entire time. All wait staff and employees wore their masks and they even had a through check-in/check-out system for the spa.
Never once did we feel compromised. We felt very welcomed and relaxed the entire stay. If you are looking to book a weekend getaway or a trip to the coast, definitely check out the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa for your stay.
