While we were on the road, nearly every day felt like an adventure. Jumping from city to city and exploring new places made each day feel like its own fun date. Since being home, we have been working on brainstorming new 10 Date Night Ideas that are creative plans.
It is so important in any relationship to prioritize quality time with one another. After a busy week of work, there is nothing that we love more than opening a bottle of wine and enjoying our weekend.
Below we have highlighted some of our favourite date night plans and activities we enjoy doing together.
10 Date Night Ideas
Day At The Beach
It should be pretty obvious by now that we feel the most at home near a beach. We absolutely love the warm sand between our toes and sunshine in our hair. One of the best date activities for us is spending the afternoon at the beach. Not only is it super relaxing, but it is also free! We always like to pack a small basket of picnic goods, drinks and beach toys. We usually camp out on the soft sand and spend the day swimming and napping. The best end to the day is watching the sunset together.
Escape Room
When we were in North Carolina we tried an escape room for the first time. At first, we were a little hesitant because the idea of being stuck in a room filled with puzzles didn’t exactly sound like a good time. However, I am so glad George convinced me to do it. It was so much fun and a great way to incorporate team building into a date. If you are unfamiliar with escape rooms, they are essentially interactive rooms filled with riddles and puzzles. The goal is to escape using the items in the room and your teammates. They are actually so much fun and would also make a great group date option!
Comedy Club
We love a good laugh and when we were in Los Angeles we were lucky enough to have access to the amazing Comedy Store. My cousin, Luke actually works at the store and does stand up himself (he’s kinda a big deal) and he also has the hookup. Our favourite is the roast battle, it’s a great show where two people go up together and spend about 5 minutes roasting one another. It can be a bit brutal, but actually really funny. Going to a comedy show is such a fun date night plan. A few drinks, a laugh and a fun environment, (just don’t sit in the front) and you will be fine!

Cooking
A few months ago my grandma gifted us a cooking class lesson at Sur la Table, which was a total blast. We had an intimate cooking lesson with two other couples and made an entire 3-course meal together. It was actually really fun and a great activity to do for our date night. If you don’t have access to a cooking class, you can opt to cook a meal together at home. George and I love to play ‘Top Chef.’ We go to the store and buy the ingredients for our meal. Each of us cooks a 3-course dinner and we rank each round as we go. Appetizer, main course, and dessert. Best two out of three wins!
Concert
We love music and one of our favourite things to do on a date is going to a concert. Before we left to travel we went to an XX concert in Los Angeles and it was so much fun. A memory we will never forget! Singing on the top of our lungs, dancing and drinking wine it was a great time.
Bonfire
In California, there are free public fire pits on the beach in the middle of the sand! It is first come first serve, all you have to do is bring the supplies. Setting up a warm bonfire, having smores and watching the sunset makes for the ultimate date night activity.
Gamenight
Now I feel a bit old admitting this, but we are huge fans of game night. We recently got hooked on a game called Rummy Cube and have actually opted to stay in and have full tournaments with each other. We also really love card games and while we were travelling we always had a deck on us. George is the king of knowing some pretty fun drinking card games and it was his party trick when we were on the road. Game night is always a good idea and if you are looking for a new one, try Rummy Cube. We got George’s entire family hooked over Christmas.
Weekend Getaway
Sometimes you just need a few days away from home and spending a weekend someplace new is a great way to do that. We have taken short weekend trips to Joshua Tree, San Francisco, Palm Springs and even the Cotswolds in England. If you have the time and are willing to spend a little money taking a weekend off in a new place could be the best date idea there is! It’s like a mini-vacation, why not?
Plan a Self Care Day
I think I got lucky with George because I am dating a guy who loves his skincare and a bit of pampering. He owns it and I love that about him. We can spend a night in doing a fun face mask, or go out to treat ourselves to a quick couples massage. A little pamper date is super fun and if your man is into that stuff, highly suggest you try it.

Romantic Dinner
I know… I know… a dinner date is super unoriginal. Obviously you can go out to eat and that makes for a fantastic date, but I have a way to make it fun! To add in a bit of spontaneity, George and I like to play a game if we do a dinner date. The two of us will write down 2 types of food we are in the mood for and put it into a hat. Italian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, French, Pizza, etc. and we draw out of the hat. From there, we then write down 3 restaurants within that type of food and draw again. It makes picking where to go super fun and exciting. We love it!
Hopefully, this provides you with a bit of date night inspiration. We hope you enjoy your time with your loved ones and no matter what you do as long as you are happy and healthy that is all that really matters!
