Situated atop the deep mountain ranges of Hoang Lien National Park. Lies one of the most peaceful lodges we have ever seen. Certified as a ‘Unique Lodge’ by National Geographic, the Topas Ecolodge was a site to behold! With 33 rustic mountain bungalows tucked within the mountainside. Each room features spectacular panorama views of the valley and rice terraces below. For those looking to visit the North of Vietnam, specifically Sapa. We highly recommend that you book a few nights at this incredible ecolodge.
Topas Ecolodge was established with a focus on sustainability. They encourage guests to partake in both adventurous activities such as trekking and biking. Whilst also enjoying the relaxation that the property has to offer. With a newly built spa and heated infinity pool, there is surely something there to enhance your sense of peacefulness.
The Ecolodge itself is located just 45 minutes outside of the main town of Sapa. It provides complimentary shuttle services from their office in the middle of town, to the grounds multiple times daily. Should guests wish to venture into the main town for shopping and food. This is easily done through the shuttle service.
Upon arrival, you are immediately greeted by a towering looking glass window, which overlooks the gorgeous valley of the National Park below. Warm menthol scented towels and cinnamon tea is also provided to all guests.
THE ROOMS
Each chalet styled bungalow varies in size. Able to accommodate couples who are looking for a romantic getaway, as well as families who are wanting to enjoy a well rounded Vietnamese experience. What is special about each one, is the private balcony. These balconies have some of the most incredible views and are the perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee in peace.
The rooms themselves are very spacious and quiet. With no wifi in the rooms, you are truly encouraged to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of nature around you!
THE FOOD AT TOPAS ECOLODGE
With a sustainable mindset, the ecolodge does its best to use locally sourced ingredients. They also have a garden on site, where they grow some of the vegetables and herbs that they use in the kitchen. The restaurant itself was absolutely spectacular! We had the pleasure of enjoying one of the most delicious dinners we had eaten in a while! We opted for the chorizo, sun dried tomato gnocchi and a coq au riesling with fresh baked bread. It was to die for! The menu highlights both a selection of traditional Vietnamese foods, along with classic Western dishes inspired by its Danish chef.
THE POOL AT TOPAS ECOLODGE
The pool is definitely the highlight of the hotel. Sat atop the hill with a view overlooking the entire ecolodge and valley below, this heated pool has the best view of them all! Since it is an infinity style pool, there is plenty of opportunity to snap some incredible photographs.
The pool area also has plenty of comfortable deck chairs, so you can sit and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. With a full service kitchen and bar next to the pool, there is also always something to eat, or drink.
Overall, we could not recommend the Topas Ecolodge more! We had the most unforgettable stay and had the opportunity to experience the quiet mountain life of Vietnam. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Sapa! From start to finish the whole experience was definitely one to remember. It comes highly recommended from the American and the Brit.
