How to Find The Taj Mahal View Point – Getting the perfect view of the Taj Mahal can be quite difficult. This is because the surrounding area is often busy and full of locals and tourists alike. However, there is one place where you can find the best view of the Taj Mahal without the stress of people, or the price of entry. Here is our step by step guide to finding the most amazing viewpoint of the Taj Mahal.
Due to the fact that this location is an abandoned complex, we wanted to note that it was open to the public as of August 2019 and should be still accessible for the time being.
Entry Fee: Expect to pay a small entrance fee upon arrival. Just outside the complex is a gate where you will find the local “guard.” He will not let you pass through without paying him first and this is often a common thing with other ‘secret spots’ in Asia. Your fee is highly dependent on your negotiation skills. Generally, you should expect to pay 100 Indian Rupees per person. However, we arrived with 100 between the two of us and with a bit of convincing, we were let through.
How to find the perfect view point The Taj Mahal
Directions
1
Make your way to the East Gate entrance of the Taj Mahal and turn right. You will see the entrance right in front of you and a road making its way right. This is the road you need to walk down.
2
Keep walking and bare right until you cross a bridge/small overpass. (It is not a typical bridge, but is a small overpass) If you find yourself walking alongside the Taj Mahal, then you have taken the wrong turn at the fork.
3
Keep following the road until you get to another fork in the road. There should be a small paddock of grass and trash on the left/ in front of you. This is where you will need to follow the path through the field and you should be able to see a building with a tower. If you can see the tower then you are on the right track and that is where you need to go.
4
Once you get closer you will see a large gate that you will need to enter. THIS IS IMPORTANT! When we arrived there was a “guard/local” collecting money to enter. He will say no, but if you hand him 100 rupees per person he will let you in. Myself and Hanna only had 100 rupees on us, but you have to pay to enter.
Once you have made it though walk through the gate and turn left. Hike up a small hill until you can see the tower in front of you. Once there you can find the steps that lead up to the view point.

Update 1/2020. This area and all areas near the east entrance are no longer accessible. Must go to opposite side of river for this shot.
