If you make a trip to Khao Sok, we strongly suggest you book an overnight stay in a water bungalow. This was by far one of our most memorable nights traveling thus far and we believe it is worth the money. As budget travellers ourselves, it seemed a bit expensive at first. At $82 per person, we figured surely sleeping the night on a thin mattress on the floor of a bamboo house would cost less. However with all the activities, food included and the experience we felt it was worth every penny!
Wake up to watch the sunrise and the beautiful fog over the water
Here is a quick breakdown of the itinerary of what the trip included and what we did! Hope you enjoy!
OVERNIGHT STAY IN A WATER BUNGALOW
Day 1
9:00 am
Pick up from hotel (Khao Sok Residence Resort) and drive to the lake which is about an hour away
10:00 am
Stop by a local market in Bantakhun town- this is where you can grab any last minute snacks, water, or food to bring with you on the lake
10:30 am
Arrive at the pier where you take a long boat to the bamboo raft houses. This ride was extremely beautiful as you pass through towering limestone formations in the middle of the water.
Our huts were on the further end, so this ride took about an hour.
11:30 am
Lunch time! They served Massaman & Green curry with chicken, or vegetarian. Rice, egg omelet and fruit. Coffee, tea and water was also available.
12:00 pm
Free time. After lunch you get a few hours to unpack in your hut, throw on your bathing suits and jump in! We got the speaker going and met some of the other people on the tour with us. The water was pleasantly warm and fresh!
2:30pm
Go to the viewpoint to hike. With a guide you embark on a three hour… yes three hour hike in the jungle. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a panoramic view of the national park which makes all the trekking worth it!
4:30pm
Back to the bamboo huts! You can shower, or jump back in the water to refresh yourself!
5:30pm
Evening Safari! Take the longboat around the lake in search of some wild life. We got to see two different species of monkeys, tropical birds and wild boars!
7:00pm
Dinner! On the menu was fresh fish, curries, rice, mixed vegetables and fruit.
8:00pm – 11:00pm
Free time. Electricity is only on until 11pm and then it is shut off. We played some cards and hung out to watch sunset on our porch.

Where we booked this amazing tour was through our guest house Khao sok residence resort. There are a number of different bungalows that you can go to on the lake. Each range from a different price point, from very expensive to relatively cheap.
