Things To Do
Railay Bay
Accessible by long boat, Railay Bay is a must if you are venturing to the south of Thailand. Named one of the best beaches in Asia, Railay Bay is a cove surrounded by lime stone cliffs, turquoise waters and holds one of the most incredible beaches you could ever see. As it is a peninsula, there is a central town where you’ll find luxury hotels and great street food. For those fortunate enough to stay on Railay Bay, we recommend the Railay Bay Beach Resort and Spa. Ranging from standard rooms, to a private villa with its own jacuzzi, this is one treat that is worth having. The beaches on Railay Bay get a bit crowded in the afternoon, so try to get there early for a prime beach spot!
Night Market
For us, the night market in Ao Nang was incredible. Filled with a ton of different food stalls ranging from ribs, to spring rolls, and even oysters, there is a large enough variety to please any foodie. Located at the centre is a huge beer garden where you can get towers and jugs of beer, you are also treated to local live music which adds to the already amazing atmosphere.
Fishing
Gillams and the rock point, if you’re an avid fisher then Ao Nang is a really great place to catch some fish. There are several major fisheries but our favourite is Gillams Fishery, here you can catch fish up to and more than 500LB. If you like sea fishing then there is a rock point which is a great place to go. Found north of Ao Nang Beach, there are several places to spend the day catching all types of saltwater fish, even sea snakes!

Where To Eat
Green Curry
This balcony restaurant has a wide variety of food, often a bad thing in some restaurants, however not here. With every dish tasting incredible we found ourselves coming back here more and more to try something different. The staff are wonderful and the view of the beach and ocean are a great addition when sitting down for lunch, or dinner. Be sure to stop by here if you’re looking for some great authentic food.
Racha Seafood Restaurant
This is another great spot to go for some cheap local cuisine. They have really great BBQ options as well. While the wait for the food can take a bit, it was worth it!
Chaplu Bar
This little cocktail bar is found next to the Phra Nang Inn hotel. Although it doesn’t serve food, it does serve amazingly strong cocktails for the price of 99B. With a few stalls to sit on out front, this is the perfect place to stop and recharge after a hot day on the beach. If you go, say hi to the bartender Sonny for us.
Beach Front Bar
This beach front bar is a more luxurious than most and its prices match, so be sure to get there during happy hour to take the sting out of buying a drink. Additionally the atmosphere here is great if you want to warm up before heading out to grab a few drinks. With pumping music and a beach view, this is a great place to sit down, enjoy a beer or two and watch the sun set.
O’Malley’s Irish Pub
This is a fun pub to grab a pint and play some pool! If you are a pool shark definitely go check this place out. Often a great hangout for backpackers and holiday makers alike.
