At some point in these past few months, you’ve probably caught yourself reminiscing about old travel adventures, or brainstorming travel ideas for booking your next vacation. Learn a New Language
Learning a new language is a fantastic way to plan for an upcoming trip. With all the extra time we have on our hands at the moment, there is no better time than now to pick up some books and learn. For example, if you are planning a trip to Mexico, new words to learn may include, ‘gracias,’ ‘hola,’ and ‘Cerveza!’
The best way to learn a language from home is through an online course or app. You can easily sign up for full courses through platforms such as Italki, or Rosetta Stone. Equally apps such as Babbel and Duolingo are also fantastic ways to help you learn those essential phrases!
Plan a Future Trip
Even though you may not be able to travel now, sometimes just planning our next holiday is enough to get that travel inspiration going again. In fact, sometimes planning the trip is half the fun! You can make planning fun by referencing helpful blogs or turning to Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. We’ve linked our favourite blogs and pins above, so be sure to check them out.
Don’t forget to save any locations, hotels and restaurants in your planning!
Get Creative And Share Your Travel Memories
Sometimes one of the best ways to remember your past travels is by creating something visual to remind you of your experiences! Travel from home, and go back in time by creating a scrapbook using your old travel photos. You can even try putting together a scrapbook, or maybe create a video montage using the footage you took during your travels!
Whatever it may be, there are so many creative ways you can share your fondest travel memories. We like to journal about ours, make photo books, vlogs of our adventures!
Cook Your Favorite Foreign Dish
Travel from home through cuisine and exotic flavours! If you’re feeling adventurous, pick one of your favourite countries and try to create a new dish you have never tried before. Or, you can easily try to recreate one of your favourites as well.
One of our favourites is Thai curry! We love trying out new recipes and taking inspiration from the countries we visited.
Read Travel Books & Magazines
Finding an interesting travel book is a phenomenal way to transport yourself to another place and ‘travel’ from home. There are so many incredible books out there. Be it a true travel story, or a fictional novel, sometimes relaxing in bed with a good book is all you need!
If you are not a fan of reading, consider a more visual travel magazine! I have a monthly subscription to Conde Nast Traveler and I have been loving it. Taking a few hours out of my day to read about new exotic travel destinations and flick through some beautiful imagery has been such a relaxing way to unwind at home.
Make A Travel Bucket List
It is such a good time to sit down with your thoughts and think about some of those bucket list travel destinations! After all, there are so many places to see and things to do out there waiting for you.
What are some of those bucket list destinations you have dying to visit? What destinations and activities really get you buzzing with excitement? Are you in the mood for an adventurous safari, or looking for a relaxing holiday at the beach?
